Committee Meeting Minutes

Friends of Brookhaven Park (FoBP) Meeting
Attending: Rebecca King, Diane Beck, Harriett Groves, Bill Roberts, Giles Stevens, Larry Danese,
Mike Elliot, Bill Strickland, Jack Honderd, Jenny Trautman
1. Visioning Sessions: Rebecca reviewed the many ideas gathered as part of the 3 Visioning
Sessions held in the park recently. She organized them by category in a handout . (see
attachment). Approx. 100 Brookhaven residents attended and participated in generating ideas.
Several people indicated interest in working on FoBP in the future. It was suggested we draft a summary of the Visioning Session process and ideas in form suitable to pass on to our DeKalb County Commissioners.
2. PR Committee
-Logo: have working “artwork”, not ready to declare it official logo. Bill Roberts has name of Decatur graphic artist that is working on BPCA logo; will ask designer’s opinion on our current “artwork.” Mike Elliot will follow up on this immediately. Perhaps they can do 2 logos simultaneously
-Website: Jenny is planning to work on it next week.
-Brookhaven Arts Festival Oct. 11, 12, 10 AM – 6 PM Sat., 12 PM – 6 PM Sunday. 40,000 people came last year. Organizer Gretchen Roberts is making a table/booth available to us--to be shared with BPCA. Suggestions: T-shirts for volunteers? Aerial photo of park? Who will organize volunteers? Free lemonade? Are we fundraising? Collect email addresses and supporters?
Jenny Trautman, Harriett Groves and Rebecca King will lead the Brookhaven Arts Festival display effort. Rebecca will organize volunteers. Mike Elliot will talk to graphic designer re. graphics for FoBP and BPCA on a banner to skirt the table. He and Larry will confer re. aerial photograph. Giles will print/copy a handout of some sort. Rebecca will print out Visioning Ideas summary. Jack will put together summary of FoBP mission. What do we do if someone offers to donate? Set up online pay link, PayPal account? Giles will lead this, will set up a meeting with Bill Draper and Jenny Trautman.
We adjourned at 7:45 PM. Next meeting will be after Brookhaven Arts Festival.
